Make Believe - Reach For the Stars
Did you ever dress up and play "make believe" when you were a child?
What did you pretend to be?
An astronaut?
An all-knowing wizard?
A cape donning super hero of some sort?
Maybe you took the more badass route and pretended to be an outlaw.
Or a killer commando.
As for me, I just wanted to be pretty.
However, I wasn't willing to risk taking a pounding from my sisters for using their make-up, or being yelled at by my mom for borrowing her jewelry.
No, unfortunately, all I had to work with was a musty old box of mish mashed Halloween costumes that was kept in the creepy corner of the basement.
It wasn't exactly worth conquering my basement fears simply so I could pretend that I was a werewolf genie with hook hands, know what I'm sayin'?
And there certainly wasn't anything pretty about that!
(Although there was that kick ass sparkle wig...
Hell, I'd wear that thing today if I still had it. Just to liven things up around the office.)
So basically, I myself never was very good at make believe. I simply didn't have the resources.
No pretty dresses or tiaras. No hand-me-down heels to clop around in.
No, I'd have to do some pretty hard pretending, with some really focused imagination, to get to where I was trying to go.
And I just don't think I had the energy.
Oh yes, that same fiery ambition I had back then still burns strong today.
Yeppers.
But you know what though?
Now that I'm in my 30's, and forced to face the cold, harsh reality that is adulthood... sometimes I miss that box in the basement. I think I'd rather be a werewolf than this.
SIGH
So on that note, here is what make believin' looks like when done right. Josef style!
(I especially love the Grecian style gold bands in her hair)
Also included in this series are the Southern Belle and Beauty Queen, which I do not have in my collection:

The Make Believe Series
Here we have your classic princess (I see someone loved her enough to give her a crown)
A geisha
An actress
(I especially love the Grecian style gold bands in her hair)
I'm not exactly sure what this one is...
French socialite?
Ah, youth.
Hi I have a Josef Originals with sticker little girl yellow dress making breakfast at a table. End of spoon broken off otherwise faultless... I can't find this image on the Internet & would like to know more about it... Can I send you a photo?
