My Favorite Things

We all know the famous song...

"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings

These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings

These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs

These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites, when the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad

I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad."

But did you know that Muriel Joseph George created a series of dolls based on the classic ditty?
Well, she did.
Cause really...why not?
And the dolls from this particular series are quite elusive. I've been super lucky enough to have found a few to add to my collection:

This one either represents the line about "warm woolen mittens", or it could very well be for "snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes". Or maybe it's just a mash-up of both!

This next one could only represent "cream colored ponies"

And I do believe this one must surely represent "crisp apple strudels"

Her treat is marked with an "A"

(The following figurines are NOT part of my collection. But hopefully will be soon.)

This doll represents "brown paper packages tied up with string", however Muriel opted for prettier and more colorful packages

"Whiskers on kittens"

And then there is this one...

There is a line in the song that mentions a dog, but it is not on the list of "favorite things." In fact, it is mentioned in the song as a bad thing needing to be forgotten, because who's favorite thing could possibly be being bit by a dog?

Unless Muriel was into that kind of stuff....??  Different strokes for different folks, I guess!

Wanna know what one of my favorite things is?

I'll give you 3 guesses... :)

  1. Wow, I am stunned. I'd never even seen the strudel one before!!! Ive bid on a few of these but never win. The presents one was for sale a few weeks ago but went out of my (husband mandated) Josef budget. Snowflakes is up now but she has an obvious repainted flower that is undisclosed so who knows what else might be an issue.
